I am a linux noob. I am trying to install but failing miserable. Can someone point me in the right direction? My installation is as follows. I have ubuntu server 14.04 with Lamp installed. I believe i have successfully install cakephp. However, I get "urrently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500" when I try to browse to the url. I am willing to start from fresh installation if some one has a good document. I have tried my best with the document on the github site.

First, have you tried enabling debugging in config/core.php? That should send more information about the error encountered to your browser, helping to debug the situation.

Second, how urgently do you need this set up? A new version is currently in beta release, and will be publicly released soon-ish, but there's no installer at all for it just yet.

Quick couple questions.
Where should I install cakephp. I have installed it under /var/www/html. Do I need to modify any thin in the /var/www/html/cake/webroot/index.php?
